A small business that got tired of recounting the drawer

Kountr started in 2026 as a small business in Fresh Meadows, New York. It was built around one problem: counting a stack of mixed bills by hand, then counting it again when the total doesn't match.

Most bill counters only tell you how many bills went through. To get a dollar total, someone still sorts the ones from the twenties and adds the piles. Kountr reads the value of each bill as it feeds, so an unsorted stack comes back as one total, with a breakdown you can check.
